AYYA would like to thank our Flag Football sponsor Vitamin Water!
"The important thing...is not to win but to take part; the important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well. To spread these precepts is to build up a stronger and more valiant and, above all, more scrupulous and generous humanity."--Baron Pierre de Coubertin, Founder of the modern Olympic Games
Mission Statement:
The goals of the All Yonkers Youth Association (AYYA) are:
To provide a means of recreation for the children of the city of Yonkers and its surrounding communities;
To provide an atmosphere of positive social interaction and teamwork;
To give the youth of our respective programs the opportunities to learn the fundamentals and strategies of each of the sports that AYYA has to offer.
To offer parents a means of active participation with their children and/or the youth of our program.
General Information:
All Yonkers Youth Association (AYYA) provides recreational weekend sports activities from September to June.
AYYA offers outdoor soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and baseball/T-ball in the spring.
Our Saturday in-house programs range from ages 4-14.
There are also a limited number of travel teams that compete in the Yonkers area;
these travel teams may also include all-girl squads (all travel teams based on availability of coaches).
We are based in Yonkers, New York, and serve the city of Yonkers as well as surrounding
communities-the villages of Tuckahoe, Bronxville, Scarsdale, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Eastchester and
Pelham in Westchester County, as well as the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx in New York City.
There are no residential requirements to join AYYA.
A seasonal fee, along with an application, is required for each sport;
the fees are used to purchase uniforms, equipment, insurance and trophies, and
also to pay for referee/umpire fees and other special events.
No officers or directors of the organization receive a fee, and volunteer head coaches are compensated
for their services by a discount of their child’s application fee.
The strength of our program is the large number of volunteer coaches who donate their time and efforts in helping
our children learn the basics of that season’s sport.
No coaching experience is necessary-we simply seek parents who are enthusiastic and patient.
AYYA will provide written guides and/or seminars to help the first-time coach.
All Yonkers Youth Association cares about all the children that participate in our various programs.
It is why we ask parents to become involved in every aspect of our program: helping coaches on the field/court,
cheering encouragement to your child and his/her team, assisting in administrative duties when asked.
Additionally, we do expect each child to be escorted to and from all events, and we also ask that at least one parent or
guardian to be in attendance as they practice/play.
With each sport there is an evaluation process whereby children 9-years-old and older are led through a series of
drills designed to assess their overall knowledge and ability in that season’s sport.
Each child is given a score and those scores are used to assemble teams that will likely be equal in general ability.
AYYA makes every attempt to honor special requests in placing their child on a team.
However, should the placement of a player or players create an unbalanced situation
(i.e., a team too strong or too weak), at the discretion of the Commissioner the team(s) will be re-arranged.
The directors and officers of AYYA always welcome suggestions and new ideas to enhance our programs. All information collected for registration purposes shall be held in the strictest confidence and will not with shared with outside agencies.
Active participation is sought on all levels-please feel free to get involved!
In June, 2000, All Yonkers Youth Association was recognized by the Office of the Mayor of Yonkers, the Mayor's Community Relations Committee and the Yonkers City Council for commitment and service to the youth and community of Yonkers. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
